FANS of glam rock legend Marc Bolan, who died in September 1977, descended on Golders Green in force to mark the anniversary of his death.

The star, whose chart-toppers included Get It On and Metal Guru, had his ashes buried at the Golders Green crematorium that year after dying in a car crash, aged 29.

Last Tuesday (September 16), on the anniversary of his death, a 150-strong band of fans from as far afield as Holland and Switzerland paid tributes, made speeches and played songs in his memory.

"People were wearing glitter and feathers, all glammed up with glitter under their eyes and curly hair like Marc's," said Sue Garvock, head of the Marc Bolan fan club.

"Marc's cousin Caroline was there, along with her sister. It went really well - we weren't expecting this many people.
