Families brave bitter weather for Easter fun and games

Families braved frosty temperatures over the bank holiday weekend to take part in a host of Easter festivities.
On Sunday, Highgate’s Lauderdale House hosted the annual Great Egg Roll, attended by more families than ever before.
The event in Waterlow Park, Highgate Hill, kicked off with egg decorating at 11am followed by a prize-giving for the best eggs.
The Great Egg Roll challenge began shortly after noon with prizes handed out in various age groups for the longest rolls. This was followed by a treasure hunt.
Actor Tim McArthur, a Highgate resident, called on his comic alter ego Sister Mary McArthur to hand out the prizes to the delighted children.
Katherine Ives, Lauderdale House director, said: “We had record numbers – we had 149 children – I can’t remember having quite that many before. We were extremely relieved that the snow melted two days before.
“We had some fabulous decorated eggs. It looked as though the mums and dads were having as much fun as the children!”
On Saturday, children scoured Primrose Hill in search of ten chocolate bunnies dotted around the village and the park as part of the Young Bunny Challenge, organised by the Princess of Wales pub in Chalcot Road.
Parents and their children were handed a set of ten clues to search for the bunnies with the Big Bunny Prize awarded to the first child to return.
There were medals and prizes for every child who took part.
Last Wednesday, Camden’s Mayor was in attendance as the Spanish Nursery and Children’s Centre for Culture and Language celebrated Easter.
The Kentish Town centre, based at Ingestre Community Centre, Ingestre Road, invited parents and local friends to an egg hunt with giant eggs designed by children who attended a five-week art workshop at the centre.
