An exhibition of art produced by Holocaust survivors has opened at the London Jewish Cultural Centre (LJCC).
The exhibition, titled Out of Darkness - the Joy of Art, comprises work by a number of survivors who attended weekly art classes at the Holocaust Survivors Centre, in Hendon, under teacher Barbara Jackson.
It opened with a private view yesterday at the LJCC, in Ivy House, North End Road, Golders Green, and runs until June 5 to mark Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) 2014.
LJCC chief executive Louise Jacobs said: “We are delighted to be hosting this remarkable exhibition. It is a lesson to us all that, despite suffering unimaginable horror, the students in Barbara’s art class paint with vibrant colour and energy - a positive expression of the joy of life.”
