One of the biggest sites ever to be sold on “Billionaire’s Row” near Hampstead Heath has gone on the market for £25million.

The Bishop’s Avenue, which runs between Kenwood House and East Finchley, is no stranger to controversy having been home to novelist Salman Rushdie and the site of the “silver bullet” murder of the tycoon Aristo Constantinou.

Now a vast 1.6-acre swathe of land on three adjacent plots has been put up for sale following the collapse of the Lehmans banking empire.

One of the plots, named Hornbeams, has planning consent for two luxury mansions off a private drive. The second, called 1 Canons Close, has permission for five luxury apartments, as has the third, 2 Canons Close.

Each development would have a private swimming pool and underground parking.

Trevor Abrahmsohn, of Glentree International, which is managing the sale, said it was one of the most significant of his career.

The location of the plots is at the Hampstead Heath end of the street. The fact that planning permission is already in place makes the sale an “extremely rare” opportunity, he said.

The lots can be bought seperately but are expected to be sold in one deal to a developer.
