Ghoulish goings-on created “pandemonium” on Hampstead Heath as scores of adults took part in a spooky Halloween walk.

The Heath’s education and play officers transformed themselves into flesh-eating animals and other creatures of the night to stage the Haunted Heath event on Friday.

Two groups of 80 were led on an eerie journey deep into the woods during the sold-out event, which takes place every year.

Paul Maskell, the Heath’s leisure and events manager, said: “I saw people terrified, they didn’t know what to expect. It’s a play, a story, which unravels.

“People go off into woods where there are lots of shocking surprises for them. It’s a full-blown hour of witching and pandemonium.

“You don’t see anything else like it in London.”
