The Hampstead and Kilburn MP Tulip Siddiq paid tribute to “selfless volunteers” during her visit to the Royal Free gardens last week.

Ms Siddiq visited the gardens on Friday. In recent years, volunteers have sought to make the gardens more appealing and welcoming to visitors to the hospital by planting new greenery.

Led by former deputy headteacher Linda Grove, the Royal Free charity garden volunteers initially started to revitalise the gardens on Pond Street in 2015.

They have also planted a garden in memory of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who is currently in prison in Iran.

After visiting the garden, Tulip Siddiq said: “It was a real pleasure to visit the Royal Free Volunteers once again, this time to see their work on the gardens. Their efforts have been transformational and epitomise the selflessness of the hundreds of dedicated volunteers who work to make the Royal Free as welcoming a place as possible.”
