As parents set off to march on Downing Street for Nazanin, green-fingered residents have planted a Belsize Park garden for Nazanin
Local residents, led by former deputy headteacher Linda Grove, have been hard at work planting flowers in front of Budgens on Haverstock Hill as the community prepares to march for Nazanin.
Crocuses, ivies, primroses, cyclamen and poinsettia from Columbia flower market are standing bright against the Wintry sky and organisers hope Nazanin will be home to see the daffodils bloom in Spring.
The flowers are sponsored by Belsize in Bloom and planted by Royal Free charity garden volunteers, with the daffodils donated by Homebase.
Nine-year-old Olivia Jeong from Willesden has written a note for Nazanin to go alongside the flowers.
She wrote: “Hi Nazanin and Gabriella your family and friends are missing you so so much. I hope you will be back home for Christmas. Be strong, be brave. I will pray for you. From Olivia Jeong with my heart.”
As reported in the Ham&High, Hampstead parents are marching on Downing Street today to demand the UK government takes decisive action to release West Hampstead mum Nazanin.
They are meeting at Green Park station at 10.30am today before descending on Downing Street and then the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to call for Prime Minister Theresa May and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson to act decisively.
Parents will deliver a letter calling for Nazanin’s release, as well as a Christmas card and presents for Gabriella, Nazanin’s two-year-old daughter.
Thomson Reuters charity worker Nazanin and Gabriella were seized at Tehran airport on April 3 as they returned from a family holiday to visit her parents in Iran.
Nazanin, who has dual Anglo-Iranian nationality, was thrown in jail and Gabriella’s passport was seized, leaving her trapped in Iran where she is being cared for by her grandparents.
Nazanin was sentenced to five years in jail by a court on still unspecified charges.
