We would like to thank all of the 203,465 Londoners who voted to re-elect us as your Green Party members of the London Assembly. Although the Liberal Democrats faced a massive squeeze and lost seats, the Green share of the vote held firm in spite of a big increase in turnout. We are truly grateful for the support you have given us.

The previous Mayor, Ken Livingstone, acknowledged that Green Assembly Members had been the driving force behind many of his initiatives on climate change, low pay and sustainable transport. Now that we have a new Mayor in Boris Johnson we will be pushing hard to ensure that the green agenda in London moves forwards not backwards. Although we welcome the Mayor's commitment to fight Heathrow expansion and protect back gardens we are alarmed at his plans to scrap higher charges for gas guzzling vehicles and ditch affordable housing targets. We will therefore be playing a vital role in holding the new Mayor to account and will continue to work for a London that is greener, fairer and more affordable.
