Families enjoy Big Green Picnic in Chalk Farm park to celebrate its transformation

Families enjoyed a rare spell of good weather on Saturday to celebrate the transformation of their local park with a big picnic.
For two years, the Castlehaven Community Association has worked with residents and local businesses to clean up Castlehaven Park in Chalk Farm.
The park now has a wildlife area, orchard, pond, ‘bee hotels’ to attract bees, and a five-a-side football pitch.
To mark the culmination of the project, the association held the Big Green Picnic and invited the community along to enjoy the park.
The event was partly organised by Gavin Fernback, owner of The Fields Beneath cafe in Kentish Town, who supplied 60 free mini picnics for local children.
Origins Housing Trust donated £500 and Waitrose donated £350 to help fund the event.
