Keen snappers are being urged to pick up their cameras and make the most of this weekend in Marylebone to chronicle a day in its life.
Local resident Gaby Higgs is calling for people to enter the annual photography competition A Day In The Life Of Marylebone, being held as part of the annual Art In Marylebone fair which takes place from June 14-16 at the Hellenic Centre in Paddington Street.
The competition is open to anyone and is free to enter. Aspiring entrants need only capture an inspiring scene in and around Marylebone on the weekend of St George’s Day, April 20-23, and submit them via the Art In Marylebone website.
“We started this competition about four years ago, and since then it’s been amazing,” said Ms Higgs. “It is a great way to build up art in Marylebone, and we get great submissions from amateur photographers through to professionals.
“We want to get people involved with art in Marylebone, and the submissions we get are always very exciting. Now, our goal is to simply field more entries.”
Each participant can submit up to three images, which must be taken within Marylebone’s geographic boundaries, by April 26.
Around 200 entries were received in 2012, and Ms Higgs hopes for even more this year.
“It’s really a great way of building a beautiful social and architectural record of the area where we live and work, and it’s a very exciting way of doing it,” she said.
