A celebrity fundraising concert in aid of a special needs school has been cancelled due to poor sales.
Veteran broadcaster Henry Kelly was due to host the glamorous evening tomorrow (Friday) at University College School in Hampstead to raise money for the Swiss Cottage Research and Development School.
Performers due to appear included renowned percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, flautist William Bennett, and saxophonist Amy Dickson.
But the special needs school in Avenue Road took the decision this week to cancel the concert after failing to sell enough tickets.
Director of business development Dr Isabel Noronha-DiVanna said: “While the concert was received with a great deal of enthusiasm and financial support, ticket sales did not reach a minimum threshold level to make it feasible to go ahead. Swiss Cottage School is grateful to its friends for their support, to the musicians for accepting our invitation and for generously waiving away their cancellation fee, and to University College School.”
