GCSE pupils at Acland Burghley School saw their teachers don fedoras and dance to the Very Best at Being Bad at a Bugsy Malone-themed leavers party on Friday (July 5).

Teacher Harriet Rye, 38, head of Year 11 at the school in Burghley Road, Tufnell Park, said it was a tradition for staff to perform a dance at the end of year party and this year, the 1970s gangster musical was chosen.

Talking about her performance Ms Rye said: “I was quite a rabbit in the headlights to be honest, but there was a lot of cheering and whooping from the kids and probably a lot of filming - though I’d rather not think about that!”

Staff were at the school from 7am on Friday to turn the assembly hall into a Bugsy Malone-style speakeasy for the post-GCSE send off.

The hall was complete with a door with sliding peep-hole and a bar serving mocktails.
