The manager of a Championship football club gave students a taste of what it takes to be a professional player thanks to a donation from a school volunteer.

Stuart Pearce, manager of Nottingham Forest FC, taught footballing tips and tricks to 20 pupils at Haverstock School in Haverstock Hill, Chalk Farm, last week at a three-hour coaching session.

The event was a generous donation from Patrick Oldoni, 42, who is a mentor of the school’s careers scheme Career Academies.

He beat hundreds of thousands of people to win a national competition for the chance to train with the veteran manager, but decided to share the prize with youngsters from the school.

Mr Pearce said: “The Haverstock Hill School kids have been great sports, and I hope they keep up the training.”
