A new headteacher has taken up his position at the helm of Portland Place School.

David Bradbury has joined the Marylebone independent school from South Hampstead High School where he held the position of deputy head for more than six years.

Mr Bradbury – who enjoys archery, cookery, cryptic crosswords, film, literature, music, hill-walking and board games – has also taught abroad as physics co-ordinator at Bangkok Patana School.

He has an honours degree in physics, a post-graduate certificate in education from the University of Keele and an MA in Education from the Open University, as well as being a member of the Institute of Physics, a chartered physicist and a member of the Association for Science Education.

Mr Bradbury replaces Dr Martin Stephen, who was appointed as interim headteacher.
