Camden’s primary schools are once again among the best in the country after the borough was ranked in the top 10 in England for primary school performance.
The Department for Education (DfE) has today released official primary school league tables.
Camden was ranked eighth in the country for teaching children writing, ready and mathematics – otherwise known as the three Rs.
The ranking is based on the percentage of pupils achieving a Level 4 in their SATs exams – the standard expected of an 11-year-old.
In Camden, 86 per cent of youngsters achieved the benchmark – smashing the government’s target of 65 per cent. Nationally, 80 per cent of pupils achieved the standard.
The local authority has dropped three places from fifth since last year, but still remains among the best-ranking boroughs in England.
