Girls at Hornsey School for Girls were today collecting some stellar GCSE results.

64 percent of students achieved at least five A* to C grades, including maths and English, in what marks an 11pc increase on last year.

The percentage of students achieving the English Baccalaureate was also up substantially, with 37pc compared with the 2015 score of 23. This means they scored 5+ A*-C grades in English, mathematics, two sciences, a foreign language and history or geography.

“I am extremely proud of what our students have achieved here today; the results we have seen are proof of their admirable determination, hard work and diligence,” said Kuljit Rahelu, headteacher at the school.

“I would like totake this opportunity to thank all of our staff and parents for their ongoing invaluable support and contribution to our students‟ achievements: these fantastic results illustrate the commitment from both staff and students to making Hornsey School for Girls such a successful local community school.”
