Headteacher lauds staff and students at Hornsey School for Girls following Ofsted report

The Inderwick Road school received a “good” rating across the board, with inspectors praising the progress of pupils, the support on offer from staff, as well as its “excellent sporting facilities and “vibrant library”.

Helen Matthews, who inspected the school in March, cited improving progress for disadvantaged and special educational needs students and continuing its support of pupils with low attendance as appropriate “next steps”.

Headteacher Kuljit Rahelu said: “I commend our students, staff and governing body and everything that has been achieved here at Hornsey School for Girls.

“Following our most recent outstanding set of examination results in 2016, placing us in the top 20 per cent of high performing schools in the country for GCSE and A Levels, we are delighted that the report has truly captured and reflected the reality of our school and the excellent learning environment.

“I am delighted to be leading this unique and exceptional school to even more success as we ensure every young person continues to succeed within a culture of high aspirations.

“Our students are here because they want to learn and achieve their very best – I am particularly proud that our students embody our vision, ethos and values as witnessed by inspectors – their mature behaviour and the mutual respect, tolerance and courtesy they show to each other and to staff.

“There are so many glowing aspects to this report – it is hard to pick out just one highlight, but suffice to say, we are very proud.”
