Parents can learn more about alternative teaching offered by Montessori schools at a seminar hosted by a Hampstead society.
The Montessori Society, based in Lyndhurst Gardens, will explain the principles of Montessori teaching at a seminar on February 8 at the Khalili Lecture Theatre at SOAS, University of London, Russell Square.
Montessori education, pioneered in Italy in the early 20th century, emphasises children’s independence and offers mixed age classrooms for children usually aged between two and six.
Montessori schools in Camden include the Maria Montessori School in Lyndhurst Gardens and Chalcot Montessori School in Chalcot Gardens, Belsize Park.
Emma Wong-Singh, chairman of the society, said: “Parents need to understand the Montessori principles and how they can be applied to real life.”
