In the core subjects, students performed well above national average. In English nearly nine out of ten students achieved the equivalent of an A* to C with 13% gaining the highest new grading of 9‟.

Adam Nightingale, 16, from Chalk Farm achieved extraordinary results scoring a 9 in both of his English exams and maths as well as four further A*’s. Adam said:“I was hoping to get all 7s in Maths and English.I have always felt that I am good at these subjects but I didn’t expect to reach 9. One of the English papers was terrifying! I will be going into sixth form to study economics, biology, chemistry, maths but I dont know where yet. I’d like to do something where my work means something, perhaps medical research or a doctor.”

Adam’s parents were overwhelmed when they met their son in the reception area of the school and learned of his results. Mrs Nightingale said: “We knew he was capable but it is absolutely fantastic and it’s fantasic news for the school as well. The school is wonderful and we are so glad we kept our faith in it.”

Nina Kosanovic, 16 of Swiss Cottage was delighted with her results as she gained 9’s in both of her English exams as well.

Nina said: “I’m happy, relieved with these results. I wasn’t expecting it. I am relieved also as it’s over now! My family will be extremely happy I think. I think I may like to go into writing when I am older.

Co-Principals of UCL Academy, Robin Street and Simon Mcbride, said: “We are really delighted with such a strong set of results. They are a measure of the hard work and commitment from both students and staff, who have worked in partnership over the last five years since The UCL Academy opened.

“As a young institution we look forward to continuing this work and to build further on the significant successes of our first cohort of GCSE students.”
