Students collecting their GCSEs at Portland Place School this morning had plenty to celebrate, with headteacher David Bradbury lauding their dedication.

Staff and pupils at the leading independent school are celebrating not only a high record of five plus A* to C grades with 85per cent achieving this, but also being placed in the top 3pc of schools nationally for progress based on Value Added Scores for A-Levels – the difference between what a pupil achieves, in comparison to what they were expected to receive.

Headteacher David Bradbury said: “The pupils have worked incredibly hard and it is pleasing to see that they have made outstanding progress.

“It gives us confidence that our method of teaching, which is based around bespoke, individual attention in a nurturing environment, enables them to fulfil their potential.

“This double celebration of exceptional GCSE results and value added scores for A-levels illustrates the hard work and determination shown by both staff and pupils. To be placed in the top 3pc of schools nationally for progress based on value added is a fantastic accomplishment.”
