Jo Davey and Zoe Judge, who have been acting co-headteachers since September have taken up the joint position with immediate effect.

The school Muswell Hill, which is rated “outstanding”, has been without a permanent head since Helen Glass left the school in June to take up an executive position at a multi-academy trust in Wiltshire.

“We are both delighted to have been given the opportunity to co-lead Fortismere and to build on its recent successes. We are excited to be in a position to drive the school forward with an ambitious agenda while cementing the school’s place at the heart of Muswell Hill’s community,” the two co-heads said in a joint statement.

“We are looking forward to sharing aims and vision for the development of the school with our parents and carers in the coming weeks.”

Ms Davey said: “The prospect of playing a central role in the future development of Fortismere is a privilege that is both exciting and challenging.

“I very much look forward to working with staff, students and parents/carers in realising the vision for the school and the opportunity to build on my long association with both Fortismere and Creighton schools,” she said.

Added Ms Judge: “Fortismere is a vibrant and aspirational learning community with an ethos which promotes the growth of the individual regardless of their background.

“It has been a privilege to be a part of this school over the years and I am proud to now be in a position to take on this vital leadership role.”

Mark Chapman, chair of governors, said: “Governors are delighted to appoint two respected and talented school leaders who together are a perfect fit for the role. We look forward to working with our new co-heads to achieve even greater success for the school, our students and for the community which we serve.”
