Schoolchildren waved Union flags as they took a church congregation back 100 years to the start of the First World War with a centenary variety show.
Pupils from four Hampstead primary schools sung wartime classics, read out poems and played musical instruments at The Parish Church of St John-at-Hampstead in Church Row on Friday.
The concert marked the end of a project to get children from Hampstead Parochial, Christ Church, New End and South Hampstead Junior schools to imagine community life in Hampstead in 1914. The Community@War schools project was run by members of the church congregation.
Co-organiser Marilyn Brooks said: “We thought it would be nice to bring all the children together to see what other schools have done.”
