Channing School has been getting the dads on board as part of an awareness campaign to eradicate gender inequality in the workplace.
Last week the Highgate school invited eight dads with sixth form daughters from a variety of occupational backgrounds and interests to talk to students about their careers and the roles of women in their work places, as part of nationwide scheme Dads4Daughters.
One of the dads presenting was Jonathan Ashley-Norman QC, father of three Channing students, who said: “In a world where in some countries a woman’s evidence is worth half of a man’s, it is vital that a girl has an appreciation of the rule of law.”
Headmistress Barbara Elliott added: “At Channing, we are very fortunate to count many progressive and supportive dads who are committed to furthering the opportunities not just for their own daughters, but for all young women venturing out into the workplace.
“This initiative highlights all of the great work already happening and reaffirms our collective commitment in levelling the playing field for all young women.”
