The founder of an arts college for disadvantaged youngsters is to step down as chief executive after 37 years.
In the autumn, Celia Greenwood will take on a more backstage role at Wac Arts, which has provided weekend classes for vulnerable young people of all ages at the Old Hampstead Town Hall, in Haverstock Hill, Belsize Park, since 1978.
In September 2014, a free school opened at the college for 14 to 19-year-olds who fail to thrive at mainstream school.
Ms Greenwood declined to speak to the Ham&High until she leaves, but a spokeswoman said: “Wac Arts is looking for a new chief executive and the board of trustees are confident that they will find the right person with a passion for young people and the arts.
“We are looking to build on Celia Greenwood’s legacy of 37 years, to continuing the vision of Wac Arts and building on it.”
