A 20-year-old student who went back to school for two extra years to re-take his A-levels has finally achieved the grades he needs for his dream university course.

Orson Auvermann was a potential Oxbridge candidate before he took his first set of A-levels two years ago.

But when he scored disappointing grades aged 18, he became determined to study harder and return to school until he could scoop the marks he needed for a course in arts and sciences at University College London (UCL).

He has now scored two As in mathematics and French, on top of an A in English which he achieved two years ago.

Orson, of Kilburn, said: “It has been a gruelling few years but now it’s all worth it. It’s a course I really want to do and at a really good university.”
