Silent films created by primary schoolchildren have been screened in the West End at a glamorous film festival.

Pupils from six Camden schools wrote, shot and performed short movies about a topic they have studied in the classroom as part of the Film in Education project.

They were then whisked to the Criterion Theatre in Piccadilly Circus on Thursday last week (July 17) to see their creations on the big screen at the London Primary School Silent Film Festival.

The Camden schools that took part were Carlton Primary School in Gospel Oak, St Paul’s CE School in Primrose Hill, Torriano Junior School in Kentish Town, Holy Trinity and St Silas School in Camden Town, Edith Neville Primary School in Somers Town, St Aloysius Junior School in Somers Town and Argyle Primary School in Bloomsbury.

Film in Education founder and senior partner Martin Riedl said: “It’s a fantastic way of learning.”
