Camden Council has named its new education chief as former social worker Martin Pratt, who will have to face “unprecedented challenges” in the role.
Mr Pratt will become the council’s director of children, schools and families in February, taking over from interim director Helen McMullen. Cllr Angela Mason, cabinet member for children, said Mr Pratt will not have an easy ride dealing with financial pressures and a high demand for services.
“I’m confident that Martin will provide the professional guidance and stewardship Camden needs to ensure the provision of first-class services in the face of such challenges,” she said.
Mr Pratt, who joins the local authority from Luton Council, said: “Camden’s good reputation in children’s services is hard earned, and I look forward to working with a strong staff team, dedicated councillor leadership, and our colleagues across schools.”
