THE new UCL academy in Swiss Cottage has been given the final go-ahead after the funding agreement was signed by the government.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families has signed the legally binding agreement meaning Camden will get a new secondary school sponsored by UCL.
The agreement sets out the fi-nancial details of how the academy will be funded, both during its set up and when it is running.
Schools boss Cllr Andrew Mennear said: "UCL is ranked fourth in the world ranking of universities and they are an excellent choice to sponsor our academy and help us raise the aspirations of all Camden pupils at all levels of ability."
And vice-provost of UCL Professor Michael Worton added: "We are convinced of the need for closer and more in-depth curriculum collaboration between secondary and higher education.
