Students will dance, sing and leap through the air at a showcase of work made possible by a community campaign to save weekend classes at a Belsize Park arts college.

Youngsters, all aged between 14 and 26, will perform aerial acrobatics, African dance, physical dance and sing at a gala at Wac Arts College.

The students all attend weekend courses at the college, based at the Old Hampstead Town Hall in Haverstock Hill.

The classes were threatened with closure in November last year as the college struggled to plug a £100,000 shortfall following the loss of its Arts Council funding in 2011. The Amy Winehouse Foundation, set up in memory of the late singer, stepped in to save the weekend courses in December after a 30-day campaign to raise £15,000.

The college now runs a skeleton programme of weekend classes.

The gala will be held on Sunday, April 6 at 6pm.
