A doll’s house that was anonymously donated to Lauderdale House and is a replica of the 16th century private home, has been put on display in the window of the new veterinary practice on Highgate High Street.
The doll’s house, complete with miniature furniture and decorations that bring it back to the era when it was occupied by a mistress of Charles II, was brought into Lauderdale House two years ago by the family of the lady who built it.
And now, artist Helen Rapley, whose action man window display got all of Highgate talking during the Olympics, has restored it to its former glory and set it out for everyone to see.
“It’s an interpretation of what Lauderdale House used to be like during the time of Nell Gwynn,” said Peter Woods, marketing manager for Lauderdale.
The exciting display went up in the same week that Lauderdale House received a £50,000 donation from the grant-making trust, the Garfield Weston Foundation, towards their ongoing renovation project.
