A developer has bid to turn hotel rooms above a pub that once had stars Liz Hurley and Tom Hardy as regulars into flats.

The Winchester, in Archway Road, will remain as a pub on the ground floor but owner Matan Amitai plans to convert the upstairs hotel rooms into eight flats and double the existing basement to make room for a further two.

He bought the pub earlier this year from landlords Pat and Val Collins, who sold up to move to Ireland after 32 years.

Minor alterations have also been made to the Earl of Listowel’s proposals to demolish Swain’s Lane shopping parade and replace it with a three-storey modern block. The proposed colour of bricks has changed among other minor alterations.

The application is scheduled to be heard by Camden Council’s planning committee on July 31.
