Dramatic pictures reveal a male cyclist’s crushed bike after a collision this morning between an HGV lorry in Finchley Road and the man, who suffered serious injuries.
The cyclist, in his early 40s, is suspected to have two broken legs and was treated at the scene for pelvis and leg injuries by staff from the London Ambulance Service, who were called at 7.22am.
He was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington. His condition is not life-threatening.
The crash, near Heath Drive in Fortune Green, caused traffic chaos as Finchley Road and Hendon Way were forced to close southbound for more than an hour during rush hour, causing tailbacks as far as the Brent Cross flyover, nearly two miles away.
Both roads re-opened just before 11am, with traffic restrictions in place for a further half an hour around the scene of the crash. Finchley Road fully re-opened at 11.30am.
