Local celebrities such as Tamsin Outhwaite and Lisa Faulkner support the launch of Crouch End’s first-ever Fashion Week

WHILE London had Kate and Naomi, local celebs have rallied around to support the inaugural Crouch End Fashion Week.

From Friday the area’s shops will take part in the first ever fashion event, with special events and reductions available throughout the week.

The event is the brainchild of the Crouch End Project, which is dedicated to encouraging residents to shop in their local stores before heading to chains elsewhere in the city.

Stores will host a variety of events from masked tea parties to recycled catwalk shows, culminating in the charity Girls Night Out.

The week was launched last week by Strictly Come Dancing star Jimi Mistry and his partner Flavia Cacace, and has now caught the eye of more local celebs.

Holby City actress and Celebrity Masterchef winner Lisa Faulkner, pictured top left, said: “There are some fabulous events lined up, particularly the charity event, that sound great fun while raising money for a worthwhile breast cancer charity.

“I have total support for what Crouch End Project is doing for the community, and hope Fashion Week becomes a regular event.

“Paris, New York, London, Crouch End – it’s got a good ring to it.”

Former EastEnders’ actress and Crouch Ender Tamzin Outhwaite, pictured bottom left, said: “It’s great for the local shops to be doing this, they need to keep reminding us what they have on offer.”

Throughout Fashion Week, various clothes shops will offer up to 20 per cent discount. On Friday from 8pm, Moors Bar will host a fashion show and charity auction based around the idea of “regeneration” before the vintage pop-up shop at the Railway Tavern on Saturday between 11am and 1pm.

On Wednesday the Haberdashery will host a masked tea party from 6.30pm to 8pm and on Thursday, Change of Heart will invite mums to a treat night of shopping, wine, nibbles and style advice.

The week will close with the Girls’ Night Out, with the library transformed into a catwalk for Crouch End shops to show off their latest products and demonstrations from beauty and hair experts – there is also free cake, cocktails and a prize draw.
