CROUCH End Broadway will be closed this weekend as urgent works to a burst water main continue.
The leak began on Monday January 25, just outside Broadway Fruiterers, spraying water across the carriageway and pavements.
Though the water was stopped on Friday January 29, works have continued in the area, causing traffic problems all this week.
Now Thames Water engineers have discovered a large void underneath the road, which needs to be reinforced.
To do this, the Broadway will be shut from 8am on Saturday morning until 6am on Monday.
A council spokesman said this could be extended or reduced, depending on how the works progress.
