Tributes were being paid this morning to Kentish Town teenager Lewis Blackman stabbed to death in Kensington.
Friends and family of aspiring rapper Lewis 19, also known as Dotz, gathered on the Peckwater Estate, off Islip Street, Kentish Town, last night for a candlelight vigil with his mother and sisters.
Tributes were today being paid to the teenager on Twitter: “One of the funniest guys if you know dottz you know how funny he was, Rest Up Easy My bro,” said one.
Another tweeted: “There’s no Camden without Dotz. I’d always see this guy posted somewhere in the ends on his bike. It’s not going to be the same.”
Mr Blackman was found with fatal stab wounds in a Kensington street in the early hours on Sunday.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, after detectives were called to reports of a large number of cars in Logan Place, W8.
Detectives are investigating whether the death was linked to a house party on nearby Earls Court Road.
A 19-year-old man was arrested near to the scene in connection with the incident. He has been taken to a west London police station where he remains in custody this morning.
A Met spokesman said: “Officers on patrol were responding to reports of a large number of vehicles in Logan Place, W8, following a nearby party when they discovered a male with stab injuries.
“They administered first aid prior to the arrival of London Ambulance Service. Despite extensive efforts to revive him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 03.46am.
Det Insp Mark Cranwell said: “While we are in the very early stages of our investigation, we know there was a party at a nearby address on Earls Court Road around the time of this incident.
“We are still working to establish any link, but it does mean the area would have been busy with vehicles and pedestrians at the time.
“I want to hear from anyone who was in the area; did you witness an altercation? Every fragment of information is beneficial to our investigation and I would urge anyone who may know something to contact police immediately.”
