Police in Barnet are warning motorists to be cautious following a spate of thefts of car number plates.

Overnight between 6pm on Saturday, March 22 and 1pm on Sunday, March 23, the registration plate of a green Volkswagen Polo was partly removed but not taken in Finchley Road, Golders Green.

It is one of six cars to have been targeted across Barnet in March.

Two male suspects, described to police as males of European appearance in their early 20s, were seen removing registration plates from one of the cars in Hendon.

Sgt Jane Tuffin, of Barnet Police, urged motorists to purchase “anti-theft number plate fixers available for as little as £2 per set”.
