Police are searching for an “unkempt man” alleged to have assaulted a male and caused disorder at places of worship in Hampstead.
On Sunday morning, a 45-year-old man walking along Flask Walk in Hampstead was approached by another male in his mid-30s who blocked his way before punching him.
The victim received minor injuries in the unprovoked attack, said to take place at about 10.10am, and did not require hospital treatment.
Officers are linking the assault with reports of a man causing minor public disorder at two nearby churches and a religious meeting house.
The suspect was described as a white man, 5ft 10ins, wearing a maroon jumper, blue jeans and carrying a suitcase.
Police say his appearance was “unkempt” and that he “may be living rough in the area”.
PC Nick Dayton, of Hampstead Town Safer Neighbourhoods Police, said: “This was an isolated unprovoked attack, but thankfully the victim was not seriously hurt.
“We are aware that these incidents cause concern in our communities and we are patrolling the area and carrying out a thorough investigation.”
