A MUSWELL Hill couple have been ordered to pay a record fine after their barking dogs persistently disturbed neighbours.
Mr and Mrs Dozgun and Gonel Tel of Beattock Rise were fined a record sum of 1,100 as well as being ordered to pay court costs of 700 at Haringey Magistrates Court after being found guilty of breaching a noise abatement notice.
Residents complained to Haringey Council’s enforcement response noise team about the barking dogs and an officer who attended the scene on August 31 confirmed it was a nuisance – this was after a Noise Abatement Notice had already been issued on the couple earlier in the year.
Haringey cabinet member for neighbourhoods, Cllr Nilgun Canver, said: “This is a good result. It is not right for people to allow dogs to be outside making a constant noise while people are trying to relax in their homes.
“I hope this case alerts people to the need to be considerate to their neighbours, especially if their dog is prone to barking.”
