Man charged with attempted murder after mosque stabbing

A Kentish Town man has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing outside a mosque last week.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was attacked in Parkhurst Road at the junction with Warlters Road outside Masjid Al-risaalah mosque and Islington Islamic Centre at 1pm on Tuesday. His injuries are not said to be life threatening.
Mohammed Sharif Omar, 49, of Bartholomew Road, Kentish Town, is also charged with possession of a knife in a public place.
He appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on September 22.
