Man charged over attempted child abductions by ‘fake’ police officer

A man will appear in court following allegations that he approached a number of schoolchildren in Hornsey and attempted to convince them he was a police officer.
Abdi Waise, 28, of no fixed address, is facing six counts of attempted kidnap, five counts of impersonating a police officer, one count of false imprisonment, one count of stalking and one count of inciting a 15-year-old boy to engage in sexual activity.
Mr Waise was arrested on Wednesday, 20 January and had been on bail pending further enquires prior to being charged.
He is due to appear in custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
