Two Kentish Town burglars jailed for spate of thefts including stealing luxury cars from Camden streets

Ricky Hill, of Ingestre Road, Kentish Town, made off with £5,000 worth of goods from inside the car before going on to swipe a Toyota Urban cruiser and property totalling £150 from inside a Mini in two more Camden thefts.

Hill, 31, was sentenced to 39 months after pleading guilty to three offences at Blackfriars Crown Court including the burglary of a house in The Chase, Clapham, where £32,000 worth of jewellery, handbags and electronic devices were taken.

His accomplice in the raid, Sonny Ellis, of Countess Road, Kentish Town, also pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.

Speaking after the sentencing on Tuesday, DC Sam Edwards said: “This was an appalling string of offending which these two men carried out between them, resulting in more than £100,000 worth of stolen proceeds.”

Detectives caught the pair after spotting photos of handbags and jewellery from the Clapham burglary on Hill’s mobile phone, seized when he was arrested.

In searches officers also recovered goods worth £5,000 from Hill’s own home and his family’s address.

More photos on his mobile phone showed an arm with the last three letters – ‘ity’ – visible on the forearm. The background in the picture also showed a room’s decor.

The Met discovered Ellis, Hill’s brother-in-law, had sent the pictures and arrested him at his home address after spotting a tattoo reading ‘For All Eternity’ on his arm as well as matching the decor in the photos to the 26-year-old’s bedroom.

Police have said the BMW was recovered but “in a very damaged state” with the Toyota and £27,000 worth of property from the burglary, which Ellis and Hill kept, still not found.

DC Edwards said: “We will actively seek to bring to justice any offenders who commit offences in the borough and if further offending in other locations is discovered, we will seek to pursue those too.”
