A Highgate competitor on BBC show Dragons’ Den has been accused of blowing 230,000 invested by Peter Jones and Theo Paphitis on himself and his girlfriend.

Police are hunting Jean-Claude Baumgartner, of Parliament Hill, after he failed to appear at Blackfriars Crown Court last Thursday (February 10).

Baumgartner was due to appear on February 6 but claimed he had been snowed in and the judge adjourned the case.

The 50-year-old Swiss-born businessman contacted his solicitors on the eve of his court hearing to say that his bank cards were not working and he had been unable to buy a flight from Cologne in Germany.

Baumgartner, who wowed the Dragons with his sat-nav for skiers, is charged with two counts of fraud by false reputation for allegedly duping the multi-millionaires.

The judge issued a warrant without bail for Baumgartner’s arrest.
