A father accused of killing his 12-year-old son by violently shaking him when he was just five weeks old will stand trial in June.
Allan Young, 35, allegedly attacked his son Michael Winn in 1998 but the boy did not die until 2011.
He is now charged with manslaughter on the basis that the original injuries led to his son’s death.
The landmark case involves the longest period of time between injury and death since the common law “year and a day” rule was changed in 1996.
Young has not yet entered a plea but is set to stand trial at the Old Bailey on June 30.
