Camden’s police chief is out on patrol in Hampstead today in the wake of two attacks on lone women.

Chief Supt Penny Banham accompanied an officer on a call in Daleham Gardens in Hampstead this afternoon after reports of a person in distress.

The person had hurt themselves, but their injuries were not serious.

Chief Supt Banham’s visit comes just one week after the latest attack on a lone woman in the area.

A 36-year-old woman was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her neck in Grove Place, Hampstead, at about 6.30pm last Tuesday.

A second man then grabbed her hand and took off her rings.

And four weeks ago, a woman was attacked by two men in front of her two-year-old toddler in Belsize Square Gardens, Belsize Park, as she got out of her car at about 7.50pm.

They grabbed her around the neck and strangled her, while her wedding and engagement rings were taken off her finger.

Police are not linking the robberies yet, though they are not ruling out this theory.

Anyone with information is asked to call Camden police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
