John William O’Neil has been charged with one count of rape and another of grievous bodily harm.
The 28-year-old butcher from Yeoman Street, Lewisham, was arrested two days after a woman in her 40s was raped in Camden Gardens on Sunday.
He appears at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today.
A second, 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape, but has since been released under investigation.
The Central North Command Unit’s safeguarding team investigation continues.
