Armed police swoop on man with replica gun in Camden Town

A man who sparked an armed police swoop when he walked through Camden with a fake machine gun has been sectioned under the mental health act.
As reported in the Ham&High armed police were called to Camden High Street at around 6:30am this morning after reports of a man walking along with a large firearm slung across his shoulder.
Camden police tweeted a picture of the gun and said: “Male arrested by firearm officers after seen walking along Camden High Street with this hung over the shoulder.”
A police spokesman said: “A 51-year-old man was arrested for possession of an imitation firearm and a BB gun was recovered.”
A BB gun is a type of air gun which is designed to fire pellets.

The spokesman said: “He is currently in custody and has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act and will be placed in secure accommodation.”
