Woman charged over ‘Satanic abuse’ fantasy investigation

A woman is due to appear in court charged with perverting the course of justice for allegedly publishing the names and statements of witnesses to a pending court case online.
Neelu Berry, 55, of Peel Drive, Ilford, Essex, is facing the charges as part of a police investigation into a ‘fantasy’ internet campaign about alleged satanic abuse at a Hampstead school.
It is alleged that Neelu published witness statements and details onto an acitivist blog where online threats were made.
Berry was arrested on September 1 and a computer was seized by police.
She was bailed to appear at Blackfriars Crown Court on September 15 on condition she does not go within 500m of Christ Church, in Hampstead or contact any of the witnesses.
The charges come in the context of a series of protests that have taken place outside Christ Church for the past month after unfounded allegations were made last year claiming satanic child abuse and the killing of babies had taken place there.
Last month, a High Court judge found the discredited claims, made by two children now in care, to be a “fantasy” and “nothing other than utter nonsense”.
