Investigators looking into a complaint against police officers are appealing for two passers-by who filmed the incident on a mobile phone.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating the incident during which uniform and plain-clothes officers stopped and searched a smartly-dressed Asian man, with a beard, at the junction of West End Lane and Billy Fury Way, West Hampstead.

It happened during the night of Friday October 11 2013.

An IPCC spokeswoman said: “The man was initially stopped, searched and physically restrained by a uniformed police officer. A short time later several plain clothes officers arrived by car at the scene.”

“The IPCC is keen to speak to anybody who saw the incident and, in particular two men who are believed to have witnessed it before visiting the West End Charcoal Grill, West End Lane, a short time later.”

“The men are white, and in their 20s. Both were wearing dark jackets and were about 5’8” tall, and told the complainant they had recorded the encounter on their mobile phones,” she said.

Witnesses should contact the IPCC on 0800 015 4877 or email
