A cyclist from Primrose Hill has been fined £315 for persistently flouting Hampstead Heath's cycling rules.

Gad Hollander was hauled before magistrates for cycling across the beauty spot between Parliament Hill and Kenwood House on pedestrian pathways on several occasions.

He had already been spoken to by the Heath Constabulary once before he was given an official warning by an officer on November 9 last year.

On both occasions Hollander, from Gloucester Avenue, provided false details to the police.

The cyclist pleaded guilty to obstructing a constable in the execution of his duty and breaching the Heath’s byelaws at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on June 28.

Richard Gentry, City of London Corporation’s Constabulary Manager, said: “Hampstead Heath is managed by the City of London and a number of byelaws exist to control people’s behaviour and conduct while visiting the Heath. The Heath Constabulary is deployed to ensure byelaws are enforced.”
