Police are appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery at a betting shop in East Finchley.

Two men – one armed with a handgun, the other wearing a white surgical mask – entered William Hill in Church Lane at about 9.25pm on Wednesday March 20.

The robbers escaped with a quantity of cash. Staff were left shaken but no-one was hurt.

One suspect, described as Asian, of medium build, was wearing a grey hooded jumper and denim jeans. The second was black, of medium build, wearing a dark hooded top. He had a small, black handgun in a dark blue bag.

Det Con Jimmy Mess, of the Finchley Flying Squad, said: “We would like to arrest these men as quickly as possible. If you saw anything suspicious or the suspects making off towards the High Road in East Finchley, we would ask you to contact police.

“It may be that you saw these men getting into a vehicle or hanging around near the area earlier in the day. Any information you have, no matter how small, could be vital. So please contact us if you think you may be able to assist. All information will be treated in complete confidence.”

Anyone with information can call Mr Mess on 020 8358 1751.
